About
I have a strong connection to Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-ber) and the surrounding area (Kirkby Lonsdale and the Lune Valley). My grandfather was the local vet here in the James Herriot era and I have such fond memories of damming and picnicking in Barbondale as a child and subsequently with my own children. (Is there anything better?) What we now love most about Sedbergh and the Howgills is how relatively undiscovered it is. You can walk for hours with views to the Dales one way and the Lakes to the other knowing you are unlikely to see more than a handful of people. The hottest day of the year last summer saw us river swimming and paddle-boarding minutes from the cottage with not another person in sight.
We hope you enjoy it here as much as we do.
